1. Who runs this site

charlaywood.com is the personal website of Dr Charlay Wood. It is a personal site and is not published by, and does not speak for, any employer, university, society, journal or other organisation mentioned on it. Views expressed here are my own.

2. Copyright and ownership

All content on this site, including text, photographs, illustrations, page design, layout and source code, is © C Wood unless credited otherwise, and is protected by copyright and related rights. Third-party material reproduced here, such as journal titles, logos and linked images, remains the property of its respective owners.

3. What you may do with it

You may read the site, print or save pages for your own personal or internal reference, and link to any page on it. Short quotation with clear attribution and a link back is welcome, as is ordinary fair dealing or fair use for criticism, review, news reporting, teaching and research.

You may not reproduce, republish, redistribute, sell, licence or systematically copy any substantial part of the site without prior written permission, present the content as your own, or use it to train, fine-tune or build machine learning or generative AI models or datasets. You may not scrape, crawl or harvest the site or its contact details for commercial or marketing purposes. Permission for anything beyond the paragraph above is usually given readily, so please just ask.

4. Accuracy

The site is offered in good faith and kept as accurate as I can make it, but it is provided without warranty of any kind. Publication records, dates, funding, affiliations and project status change, and parts of the site are loaded automatically from external sources such as ORCID, so they may be incomplete or out of date. Nothing here is scientific, professional, commercial, financial or legal advice, and nothing should be relied on as the basis for a decision without checking it independently.

5. Links to other sites

This site links to external pages including journals, publishers, universities, societies, social platforms and my own blog. Those sites are not under my control. Linking to them is not an endorsement, and I am not responsible for their content, their availability or their handling of your data. Their own terms and privacy policies apply once you leave this site.

6. Getting in touch, and what happens to what you send

Messages sent through the contact form on the Connect page are delivered to me by the site host so that I can reply. I use what you send only to respond to your enquiry. I do not sell it, and I do not add anyone to a mailing list. Please do not send confidential, sensitive or unpublished material through the form without arranging it with me first. Ask me to delete a message and I will.

7. Cookies and third-party services

This site sets no cookies of its own, uses no analytics or tracking, and stores nothing in your browser. It is hosted on Netlify, which handles contact form submissions and keeps standard server logs.

Some pages load resources from third parties, which means your browser contacts those services directly and they may see your IP address: Google Fonts for typefaces, cdnjs for the mapping library used on the travel page, flagcdn and GitHub for the flags and map data on that page, the ORCID public API for the publication list, and my blog for the latest posts. Embedded and linked media on social platforms is subject to those platforms’ own terms.

8. Changes

The site changes often and these terms may change with it. The version published here is the one that applies.

9. Contact

Questions about these terms, permission requests, corrections and takedown requests all go through the Connect page and I will deal with them promptly.
