Plant science, filmed on dog walks
A media project I am building from scratch, explore the world around you from the eyes of a plant scientist.
🐾 The channel
Chaska & Charlay
He studies plants. I hold the camera.
Short videos about the chemistry going on in whatever we happen to walk past. Chaska sets the research agenda, largely by stopping. I supply the biochemistry and the camerawork, in that order of competence.
Chaska
Field work, sample selection, quality control. Unpaid, unbothered, unreasonably photogenic.
Charlay
Camera, script, biochemistry, and explaining why any of it matters.
📷 The principal investigator
Chaska
He does not read the papers, but he does choose which plant we stop at, which is arguably the more consequential decision.

Short form
Videos coming soon
Chaska is still reviewing the protocols.
The videos will go up on TikTok and Instagram.

Where the longer things will go
Some things do not fit in sixty seconds. Pathway explainers, lab walkthroughs, the full story of how a discovery turns into a product.
Nothing there yet. The channel exists; the back catalogue does not.
What I want to make
The kind of video I wanted when I was seventeen and nobody had told me plants were doing anything interesting.
