Projects

2025 – Present

Fixing more CO₂ and making high-value aromatics

University of Wisconsin–Madison, USA

PI: Prof. Hiroshi Maeda

Engineering carbon fixation and aromatic amino-acid biosynthesis to increase flux into valuable downstream molecules (e.g., pharmaceuticals and flavourings).

2025 – Present

Red soybean to replace synthetic dyes

University of Wisconsin–Madison, USA

PI: Prof. Hiroshi Maeda

Developing and translating a transgenic red soybean line as a scalable, US-grown source of natural pigments to replace synthetic colourants.

2020 – 2024

The biosynthesis of the Securinega alkaloids

University of York, UK

PI: Dr Benjamin Lichman (Biology) & Dr William Unsworth (Chemistry)

Elucidated biosynthetic steps in Securinega alkaloid pathways and identified the OLADO enzyme family.

Let’s Work Together

I’m interested in collaborations across plant biochemistry, metabolic engineering, sustainable materials, and translational biology.

If you’re a researcher, industry partner, founder, or student exploring related questions, I’d be glad to connect.
