Invited talk for the University of York Postdoc Society. In 2023, I received £5,323 in grants and awards to attend conferences. This talk covered how I did it, with practical advice for early-career researchers looking to fund their own conference travel.

Invited presentation for the PhytoChem Talks Series, a virtual seminar series for the phytochemistry community.

Four-time University of York intramural league champions with the Biology department team. Outside of university, I played in the FA Herefordshire Ladies League during the 2023/24 season, where our team finished as runners-up. Football has been a constant and has taught me about teamwork, resilience, and the value of showing up week after week.

In 2017 I competed at the UK Tango Championships in both the salon and escenario categories. Argentine tango is a dance built on connection, improvisation, and trust, all skills that translate far beyond the dance floor.

The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) challenge asks PhD researchers to explain their work to a non-specialist audience in just three minutes with a single static slide. I was a University of York finalist, and it was a brilliant exercise in distilling years of research into something anyone can connect with.

I was part of the University of York's University Challenge team for three consecutive years. In my third year the team made it through to the televised rounds, though I didn't get any screen time as I was the reserve and, fortunately for them (unfortunately for me), none of my teammates fell ill. Still a fantastic experience that combined quick thinking, broad knowledge, and no small amount of buzzer nerves.

I trained and competed in Muay Thai as part of the University of Warwick Interclub. Combat sports demand discipline, composure under pressure, and a willingness to step well outside your comfort zone, all things that carry over into every other part of life.

Three half marathons completed and counting. Long-distance running is as much a mental challenge as a physical one. It's taught me that consistency beats intensity, and that the ability to keep going when things get uncomfortable is a genuinely transferable skill.
